SUV wrecked in yard at Davenport mobile home park after high speed police chase

Police were on the scene where a wrecked vehicle is in a yard at a mobile home park.

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Police were on scene where several people running from police wrecked a vehicle in a yard at a mobile home park.

Squad cars were at Silver Creek Mobile Home Park around 1 p.m. Monday, May 20.  The park is located off of West 49th Street, just east of N. Fairmount Street.  Police had a mobile crime scene unit as well as K9s on scene.

Police say the silver SUV, was reported stolen out of Rock Island. A tip to police said it was driving erratically in the area of Locust Street and Lincoln Ave.

Officers attempted to stop the SUV and it fled from officers. The high-speed chase concluded at Silver Creek. Several people ran from the vehicle. Officers established a perimeter and Buchanan School was placed on lockdown as a precaution while officers searched the area. The mobile home park is located about a half-mile northeast of the school.

Dawn Saul with the Davenport Community School District confirmed that the lockdown was precautionary and that there was no threat to students inside the school.

A Davenport police officer at the Silver Creek Mobile Home Park said there was no danger to the public.

Three people have been arrested.

One gun was found.

Police also say around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 20, Davenport Police responded to the area of 59th Street and Brady Street regarding a report of shots fired. Officers searched around and found bullets casings. No injuries or damage was reported. Police say they are unsure if the two situations are related.
