Someone opened fire inside a building in the 700 block of East Kimberly Road, just east of Brady Street on Monday afternoon, October 26, 2015.

Several shots were fired inside a law firm at 710 E. Kimberly Road in Davenport, Iowa, which is a building shared with a military recruiting office, according to Bettendorf's Public Information Officer, Lauren Haldeman.

"The recruiting office and its employees were not the target of this incident," Haldeman said.

Nobody was shot inside the Davenport building, but two people did suffer "superficial injuries" amid the situation.  Haldeman said the incident was called into police at 1:56 p.m. and officers were there within three minutes.

"The suspected gunman wasn't at the scene when officers arrived," Haldeman said.

Roughly a dozen emergency vehicles were at the scene after 2 p.m. Police blocked off a portion of Kimberly from Davenport Avenue to Brady Street for roughly 30 minutes.

Minutes later, at 2:05 p.m., Bettendorf Police were called to a report of shots fired in the 4500 block of Utica Ridge Road.

Haldeman confirmed that someone had entered Miller Meier Limb & Brace at that location.

When police arrived, they saw someone, described as a 40-year-old white man, standing in the parking lot of an area business with a gun in his hand.  Haldeman said that when the man saw officers arrive, he fatally shot himself.

There were no other reported injuries.

Officials had Utica Ridge Road blocked off from Terrace Park Drive to Crow Creek Road. Traffic was being diverted through the Trinity Bettendorf parking lot and exiting on the north side onto Crow Creek Road.  Traffic was expected to continue to be rerouted until 7:30 p.m. or 8:30 p.m.
