Quad City Animal Welfare Center gets big donation from Kayla 4 Kritters

The Quad City Animal Welfare Center is getting a big financial boost thanks to a group out of Victoria, Illinois.

MILAN, Illinois - The Quad City Animal Welfare Center is getting a big financial boost thanks to a group out of Victoria, Illinois.

The group "Kayla 4 Kritters" presented a check for $7,121, part of the money the group raised during the 4th annual Kayla 4 Kritters Fun Run. The event is held in honor of Kayla Halsall, who was killed four years ago in a car accident. Her family and friends raise money each year to help out different organizations that take care of pets. Each donation they make helps remember Kayla's passion for animals.

"She'd have a tear in her eye, and she'd have this going from up in Heaven, as I imagine it. She's pleased," Kayla's mother, Lisa Bass, said.

The money from this donation to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center will likely be used for some agility equipment for the dogs and other medical tools.
