Power lifters gathered in Davenport for strength and fitness expo

Competitors from across the area came out to show off their skills, some lifting as much as 800 pounds.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Hundreds of power lifting junkies gathered at the River Center Saturday, July 23, for a strength and fitness expo. It was a family event with fun activities for kids, such as the bounce house.

The main event was power lifting. Competitors from across the area came out to show off their skills, some lifting as much as 800 pounds.

It's a way to bring power lifting athletes and strength trainers together.

"Three years ago we started doing this. It's continued to grow. We get to showcase some of the best powerlifters in the Quad Cities. We got the CrossFitters over there, and then we've got Iowa's Strongest Man down at the other end," said Jo Hesse, event director.

Different vendors came out to the expo to show off their products before the event ended Saturday evening.
