BELLEVUE, Iowa — A fire destroyed a 3,200 square-foot hay barn and everything inside it, according to a statement from Fire Chief Kent Clasen with the Bellevue Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to the barn, off of Highway 62, around noon Tuesday, June 28, 2016, Clasen said.  When they arrived, the barn and 300 big round bales were fully engulfed in flames.  It took two hours and 14 firefighters to control the fire and prevent it from spreading.

The building and all of its contents are considered a total loss, Clasen said in his statement.

The property is owned by Knake Farms and is an estimated loss of about $60,000.
