A 17-year-old died after he was found in a Davenport yard suffering from injuries that police suspected were from a gunshot wound.
Captain Dale Sievert with the Davenport Police Department said Marcus Jones, of Davenport, was found in a yard in the 500 block of East 13th Street shortly after midnight Sunday, August 10, 2014.
First responders treated Jones, “who had sustained a serious injury,” on scene and took him to a local hospital, Sievert said.
Jones later died from his injuries.
Jones' identity was released Monday, August 11, 2014, after notification of family.
An autopsy was planned for that same day in Iowa City, Sievert said.
Police said the incident was being investigated as a homicide.
