BETTENDORF, Iowa — Local home building volunteers took a break to celebrate their hard work Sunday, Aug. 14.
Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities held its annual Appreciation Picnic at Veterans Memorial Park in Bettendorf. The nonprofit has built homes for low income families in the Quad Cities since 1993, and doesn't plan on slowing down any time soon.
"I think a lot of people look at habitat and they see us as a home builder and we are but what we're really doing is building a foundation for our families to grow and build their future on," said Dougal Nelson with the organization.
Habitat for Humanity plans to build its 100th home in the Quad Cities later on this year.
