A boost in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, expires on Friday, November 1st, 2013.

Workers at the River Bend Foodbank say they may need more of your donations because the benefits are expiring. There are about 47 million people who will be affected by the SNAP reductions nationwide. 22 million children will be affected by this cut. SNAP benefits will drop by about $10 a person in each household.

Two million Illinois residents will be affected by the reductions. 900,000 of those people are children.

In Iowa, 420,000 people will have less money to buy their food. About 175,000 of those people are children.

The Student Hunger Drive is currently collecting food for the River Bend Foodbank. Their drive goes until November 7th. To find out how to donate, click here.
