Today, a few people in the Quad Cities celebrated a rare birthday, because it will be another four years before it comes around again.

Two little surprises came into the world today, Kable Kirkove and Ellie Marie Schmidt. Their parents were hoping their birthdays would have fallen on a different date.  Ellie came a whole month early.

"We just wanted to make it to March 1st, we didn't quite get there," said mom, Nichole.

However when they're old enough to understand how this whole leap year birthday works, maybe they can learn to love it.

Take Dick Mowers for example, he spent the night celebrating with his family.

Mowers says there are some advantages for having your birthday on leap day, "It's really nice because people tend to remember your birthday."

He says on the off years any day can be your birthday.  Mowers sending some advice to the new leap year babies, "Just enjoy being unique and having a unique birthday."

Both set of parents have not yet decided when they'll celebrate their children's birthdays.
