UPDATE: Missing man identified, found in Mississippi River

Gustafson said Rock Island Police and East Moline Police continue to investigate how Swiatek ended up in the river.

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois -- Update: A body found in the Mississippi River Sunday has been identified as Jeremy Swiatek, the missing 23-year-old West Chicago man, according to Brian Gustafson, the Rock Island County Coroner.

The East Moline Police reported Swiatek missing on Saturday, Sept. 14, and was asking the public for help finding him. He was last seen leaving Billy Bob's, a bar in downtown Rock Island on Thursday night, Sept. 12.

He was reportedly headed towards an Augustana College bus stop.

Swiatek was in the Quad Cities on business.

Gustafson said Rock Island Police and East Moline Police continue to investigate how Swiatek ended up in the river.

Original: The search for an East Moline man who went missing on Thursday night, Sept. 12 is now over, according to the Quad Cities Missing Persons Network.

Jeremy Swiatek, 23, had last been seen leaving Billy Bob's, a bar in downtown Rock Island. He was reportedly headed towards an Augustana College bus stop.
