The United States of America gained its independence in 1776. Citizens of the “Land of the Free” celebrate that triumph on the Fourth of July.
For people who wish to become citizens there is a process of naturalization, which includes a Civics Test. An applicant would be asked 10 of a possible 100 questions from the official test to become a naturalized citizen of the United States. The questions are about the government and American history.
“An applicant must answer 6 out of 10 questions correctly to pass the civics portion of the naturalization test,” according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
