A body has been recovered from the Mississippi River and is believed to be that of a missing Rock Island boater.
A spokesperson from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources said that the body was recovered on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 just east of the Fairport Recreation Area in Muscatine County, Iowa. Officers were called to "a report of a body floating in the river" around 11:30 a.m.
"The Illinois Conservation Police report the remains match the description of 48-year-old Mark A. Bower of Rock Island," said a statement from the DNR spokesperson.
Investigators were waiting on the Muscatine County Medical Examiner's Office to identify the body.
Previous reports indicate that Bower had fallen off a boat Saturday evening, October 24, 2015 near Andalusia Island.
The Illinois DNR confirmed that the Illinois Conservation police were investigating the boating incident.
