Blazing truck causes damage to vehicle maintenance shop near Burlington

Firefighters were on scene for two hours after a pick-up truck was found on fire inside a metal machine shop north of Burlington, Iowa.

Smoke was reported coming from a large metal machine shop off Highway 99 in Tama Township shortly before 5 p.m. March 5, 2015, according to a statement from Fire Marshal Mark Crooks.

According to the statement, firefighters from the Burlington Fire Department entered the building, which is owned by Industrial Service Corporation of Burlington, and were able to extinguish the 1997 GMC Sierra Pick-up truck on fire.

The building, which is used as a vehicle maintenance shop, was damaged from heat and smoke, Crooks said.

Firefighters from the West Burlington Fire Department were called for extra manpower and the Mediapolis and Gladstone Fire Departments responded for additional water tenders.

Crews were on scene until 7 p.m.

Crooks said there were no injuries.
