BETTENDORF — Embattled Bettendorf High School Principal Jimmy Casas is expected to officially resign his position at Monday evening’s school board meeting, district director of communications Celeste Miller confirmed Wednesday.

Casas has been under scrutiny for months following a state audit that revealed he submitted invoices for an expense of $693 for T-shirts he had made as the co-founder of #iaedchat in July of 2013, an online discussion he has as an educator in the state.

School district records show Casas also took professional leave as a speaker for conferences in 2014, and according to the audit, Casas said he was ‘representing the District at those conferences.’

The school board has held a series of closed door meetings in recent weeks to discuss personnel matters

Casas could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon. He was hired as principal in Bettendorf in 2002.

Thursday, August 11, 2016, Miller said Casas will receive his final paycheck Saturday, August 20th, 2016. His last day in the district will be the previous day. Miller also said Casas will not be paid for the rest of the 2016-2017 fiscal year, due to his resignation.

The annual salary for Casas was $146,482.
