DAVENPORT — For the second time this week, an inmate from the Iowa Department of Corrections 7th Judicial District residential facility has been arrested in connection to a gun incident.

On Thursday, Davenport police responded to a shots fired call a little before 9:43 a.m. in the 1500 block of Brady Street. Officers pursued a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed, made a stop, and arrested three individuals, including one who had walked away from the residential facility.

Arrested were Fredlee Bateman, 17; Edwin Goodwin Jr., 18 and the 17-year-old driver of the vehicle who is not named by police.

Bateman was arrested on a warrant for escape from the facilty, Goodwin was arrested on a warrant for operating without owner’s consent and the driver received several traffic charges.

Shell casings were recovered in the area and an unoccupied parked vehicle was struck. No injuries were reported. Detectives are conducing follow up on the shots fired incident.

This incident comes on the heels of Wednesday’s “man with a gun” call that forced the lock down of Davenport West High School, Wilson Elementary and the Fairmount Branch of the Davenport Public Library. Davion M. Burge, 21, was arrested for carrying a rifle near the school. Like Bateman, he also walked away from the residential facility on Davenport’s Main Street.

This is the same facility convicted murderer John Mohr walked away from in late August, before being re-arrested on Aug. 27.
