$100 could win you a house and help a non-profit in Monmouth

1st Street Armoury was founded in 2009.

MONMOUTH, Illinois - A house in Monmouth is going for a small price: $100 dollars a raffle ticket.

"It's a three bedroom house, one bath, it's completely redone inside from the plumbing, electrical, new bathroom, new furnace, new water heater," said Jack Toal, Executive Director, 1st Street Armoury.

The house was givenby Wells Fargo to 1st Street Armoury, a local non-profit.

Robbins Resource pitched in the labor to make sure it's ready to live in.

"I'm looking forward to a young couple, or a couple that could really use it getting it, that's my hope," said Jason Robbins, President, Robbins Resource.

The money from the tickets goes to help the Armoury's programs such as 'Break the Cycle.'

The program allows kids to take an old bike and make it new again.

"For one hour of community service in the community they get one hour to work on the bike," said Toal.

The Armoury also works to feed kids with it's backpack program.

"The school system provides us the numbers, we package up that many bags each week and then we deliver them out to the schools," said Toal.

The tickets sold will help fund their programs.

"If we sell all of the tickets for this that will fund over 3 quarters of our program for next year," said Toal.

900 tickets are being sold and if 500 tickets are sold on December 15th the drawing will take place, if not, they'll wait till February 15th.
