Burlington shooting wounds 2, including 17-year-old, suspects found to be a juvenile

Police say that an altercation took place before the two victims were shot by a juvenile suspect.

BURLINGTON, Iowa — Update: BPD has apprehended a suspect in the shooting and released additional information.

According to police, Burlington officers, with the help of several other agencies, successfully located a juvenile suspect on Oct. 25. They have been charged with two counts of willful injury and one count of intimidation with a weapon.

They remain unidentified due to their age and have been referred to Juvenile Court Services.

Original: The Burlington Police Department is investigating a Saturday shooting that left two people wounded, according to a news release.

Just after midnight on Saturday morning, Burlington officers responded to the area of 9th and Locust Streets to a shots fired call.

Arriving officers found multiple shell casings and blood at the scene. 

Shortly afterwards, officers were notified that two victims had arrived at a local hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The victims are aged 17 and 21.

The Burlington Police Department determined that there was an altercation between individuals prior to the shooting taking place. 

At this time the facts and circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation by the Burlington Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and no further details are being released at this time.
