Islamic Center of Quad Cities opening permanent food pantry location

The pantry will be open weekly to all area residents

MOLINE, Ill. — The Islamic Center of the Quad Cities has officially opened a permanent food pantry. The Center started a weekly food drive back in March of 2020 when organizers realized an increased need for food in the community.

That food drive ran every Sunday from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, and it's not going anywhere. That drive will still happen every week in the same location.

In addition to it, the new permanent location for the food pantry will provide a more consistent place for families and residents to have access to grocery items. It will be open weekly instead of monthly, every Saturday from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

Bachir Djehiche with the Islamic Center says it's all about making sure they are providing consistent services to the area saying, "The best beloved act of good deeds to god is the continuous deed. Just keep it little don’t make a huge effort and then you stop, keep going. So when we keep going, one seed, we grow and multiply."

The food drive has grown exponentially over the past year. 50 volunteers are now involved and over 100,000 pounds of food has been given out into the community.

You can find the new pantry at 1531 Suite 1, 47th Ave, Moline Illinois.
