COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Mike DeWine is holding his daily press briefing to update the public on the coronavirus pandemic in Ohio.
There are now 1,653 confirmed cases of the virus in Ohio, with 29 deaths, with Lorain and Medina County confirming their first deaths. At least five of those deaths are in Summit County, which is tied with Miami County for the most fatalities in the state.
On this day, the governor again urged the FDA to fully approve new methods for sterilizing personal protective equipment. The sterilization process created by Columbus-based technology development company Battelle has only been approved on a limited basis, which the Governor say is just, " not good enough."
Gov. DeWine says after speaking with the FDA commissioner he is hopeful that a decision will be made today.
