Gov. Pritzker COVID-19 Update: Illinois may be starting a downward trend

The governor and his team provide the latest numbers.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced 114,306 total positives in the state with 5,083 deaths. 803,973 total tests have been performed. The official recovery rate is 92%. The state reported an additional 160 deaths in the last 24 hours. 

Throughout the address increased contact tracing, and cooperation with the tracing was reiterated.

As of Wednesday, 3,826 people remained hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those, 1,031 were in intensive care units and 592 were on ventilators.

Still, the numbers come as state officials said they believe Illinois may be coming off a peak and starting a downward trend.

All four regions of Illinois are meeting the criteria to move into phase three of the state's reopening plan.
