It’s not too late to celebrate Independence Day! Here are the events still happening through the weekend.

Not done celebrating Independence Day yet? There are still some events left.

Davenport: 29th Mississippi Valley Blues Festival, Thursday through Saturday, July 4-6. The festival will take place on 2nd Street, featuring musical acts on an east-facing stage near Ripley Street. Tent Stage acts will perform in the courtyard area east of River Music Experience at 2nd and Main.  More info online at mvbs.org.

Walnut:  Annual Celebration, July 4 through July 7, enter on Main Street in Walnut, Illinois.  Various vendors, entertainment and attractions each day.  Fireworks at dusk on Sunday, July 7.  Get details of each day’s events on their Facebook page – click here.

Here’s a list of publicized public events celebrating Independence Day 2013 in our area.

Aledo:  Dr. Ford’s Annual Frog Race, Thursday, July 4 at Central Park. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and race is at 10 a.m.  For more information, visit www.aledomainstreet.com.

Aledo:  Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration & Ice Cream Social/Hot Dog Meal. Patriotic band and choir concert by the Mercer County Community Band. Fireworks at dusk.  Mercer County Fairgrounds, 848 170th Street in Aledo.  Online info, click here.

Bettendorf:  4th of July Parade and Festival, Thursday, July 4.   Parade at 10 a.m. from 23rd and State to Grant and then 15th Street and back to State Street to 21st.  Festival with music, vendors and more begins at noon on Spruce Hills Drive between 18th Street and Middle Road.  Fireworks shot from Middle Park at dusk.  For more information, click here.

East Moline:  Live music at 7 p.m. and fireworks at 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 3 at The Quarter on Beacon Harbor Parkway.  Buses start at 6:30pm.  Parking at John Deere Harvester Works, shuttle buses start at 6:30 p.m.  For info online, click here.

East Moline:  AMVETS parade, Thursday, July 4 at 1 p.m. through the downtown along 15th Avenue from 3rd Street to 13th Street.  For online info, click here.

Geneseo: Pork in the Park! on Thursday, July 4 from 11 a.m.- 2p.m. in the Geneseo City Park. The 23rd annual pork fry is hosted by Kiwanis Club of Geneseo featuring America’s Cut Chops & Patties and all the trimmings. An ice cream social starts at 11 a.m. and a free patriotic band concert by Geneseo’s Maple City Band begins at 1 p.m. Click here for more information.

Geneseo:  Fireworks 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 3 at Richmond Hill Park, HK Robinson Drive and South Stewart Street.  For online info, click here.

Milan:  Annual celebration at Camden Park on Highway 67 on Wednesday, July 3.  Food and novelty vendors will be there, with fireworks at dusk.  For online info, click here.

Moline:  Rock Island County Republicans Fourth of July Celebration, Thursday, July 4, 2013 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Peterson Park, 35th Street and 7th Avenue.  Games for all ages, silent auctions, 50/50 and food and drinks for sale.  Reserve tickets available by contacting MSTE345154@aol.com or buy tickets at the event.

Orion:  Fireworks Festival and Lighted Parade, 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 3 at Orion High School, 110 13th Street.  For online info, click here.

Prophetstown:  July 4 celebration, Thursday, July 4, featuring 3 on 3 Basketball, live music in the park and food.  Fireworks were cancelled due to flooding.  Prophetstown State Park, East Riverside Drive and Park Avenue in Prophetstown.  For online info, click here.

Rock Island:  Red, White & Boom, Wednesday, July 3 at Schwiebert Riverfront Park.  Free admission.  Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged.  No outside alcohol, no tents, no dogs and no fireworks allowed.  Coolers and bags will be checked at the gate.  More info is online at https://sites.google.com/site/redwhiteboom/.

Rock Island:  4th of July in the Sun, Thursday, July 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Whitewater Junction.

Rock Island:  Family Day, Thursday, July 4 at Saukie Golf Course.  One round of golf for two adults plus two children under 16 for $40.  Call (309) 732-CART(2278) for more information or to reserve a tee time.
