Cell phones and cash were taken from nine victims whose belongings were in the visitor’s locker room during the Iowa-Iowa State football game Saturday, September 14, 2013.

Iowa State University Police said private security was assigned to staff the area and entry was limited to people with appropriate credentials.

After the football game, University of Iowa officials reported nine victims had cell phones and cash taken.  They discovered the items were missing after the game.

The locker room was used by players and coaches from the University of Iowa.

“Upon learning that multiple items were taken from the Iowa football locker room Saturday night, Athletics Director Jamie Pollard visited personally with Iowa A.D. Gary Barta and Coach Kirk Ferentz to express his regret for the incident,” said a statement issued Monday, September 16 by the Iowa State Athletic Department.

Iowa State University Police were continuing to  investigate the thefts.

If a suspect or suspects are not identified, ISU Athletics will reportedly reimburse those who suffered losses because of the thefts.
