CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A Maquoketa man faces between 20 years to life in prison for his role in overdoses that killed one and injured another last month.
Joshua A. Manning, 22, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute heroin and furanylfentanyl resulting in death and serious bodily injury in federal court Monday, Nov. 7. Manning was accused of selling a mixture of heroin and furanylfentanyl (a designer drug often considered an “enhancer” to street heroin) to two individuals. One victim died and the other had to be hospitalized.
Manning will be sentenced after a pre-sentencing report is finalized. He faces a mandatory minimum of 20 years imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment as well as $1 million fine.
