Man accused of attempted murder of an Illinois police officer

CHAMPAIGN, Illinois — Illinois State Police are searching for a man who shot a police officer and is on the run.

The department says Dracy “Clint” Pendleton, 35, shot a Mahomet police officer in the arm around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, May 7, in Champaign, Illinois. They believe Pendleton was shot by an officer but aren’t sure where he was shot – or how bad the injury is.

Pendleton is believed to be armed with an AK-47 and has possibly stolen a 2007 white GMC pick up truck with an Illinois registration number of 165533B.

A warrant for his arrest has been issued for attempted murder of a police officer.

Pendleton is described as a white male standing 5’10” and weighing 155 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.

While in pursuit, an officer crashed into another vehicle, killing a 26-year-old woman.
