Former Davenport mayor faces theft charge

Former Davenport, Iowa mayor Pat Gibbs Sr. is charged with felony theft in connection with his job at a local pawn shop.

Gibbs, 53, is accused of making fraudulent transactions while working at Del Rich Company pawn shop in Davenport.   Gibbs allegedly kept money from jewelry purchases made at the shop between January and April 2012. 

Gibbs was charged with one count of second-degree theft May 8, 2012.  He pleaded not guilty to the charge May 10.  His next court appearance in the case is scheduled for June 7.

Gibbs is a former Davenport Police officer; he served as the mayor of Davenport from 1992 to 1998 and he was a county supervisor from 1999 to 2003.
