According to the Bettendorf Police Department, on Thursday, September 26, 2013 the final two suspects were taken into custody after a multi-storage unit facility caught fire in late August.  The two, 27-year-old Christopher Smith and 32-year-old Julie Huffman turned themselves in to the Scott County Jail.

Eight people in total have been arrested in connection with the fire. According to jail records, the first arrests in the case were made on September 10.

As investigators looked into the incident, they determined that the fire began in a unit that was leased by McArtor Construction at the time, police said. After continuing investigation by Bettendorf Police Department, Iowa State Fire Marshal Division, and Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, it was determined that the fire “was a result of the manufacturing of methamphetamine utilizing the one pot “shake and bake” method,” according to police.
