Breakdown by County: $1.5 million in state COVID-19 reimbursement funds remain unclaimed in the QCA

Local governments in and around the Quad Cities have a combined $1.5 million in reimbursement funds yet to be claimed. Here's what's left for each county.

Almost $1.5 million in COVID-19 reimbursement funds has yet to be claimed by local governments in the Quad Cities and surrounding area.

Through the federally funded Coronavirus Relief Fund, $250 million was provided to the State of Illinois through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.  The money has been allocated statewide to help cities, villages, counties, districts and other municipalities recoup money they've spent on the COVID-19 response.  Governor J.B. Pritzker explained that this money is meant to reimburse for expenses like PPE, overtime, contact tracing and others.

On the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity's website, there is a list of all the local governments that have not yet claimed their funds through the program, which is called the Local CURE Program.

In the Quad Cities and surrounding counties, roughly $1.45 million has been left unclaimed.

To claim the funds, there's a certification, registration and submission process local governments must follow.  The process is laid out by the state's commerce and economic opportunity department, here.

The deadline to submit requests for reimbursement is January 31, 2021.

As of Tuesday, November 24, here is how much has yet to be claimed in each county:
