2021 Iowa Ag Expo gets underway in Des Moines

The third-largest indoor agriculture show in the United States is adapting to move forward in the pandemic.

DES MOINES, Iowa — The COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to big events, but some are coming back in Des Moines, starting with the Iowa Ag Expo

It's the first large expo show at the Iowa Events Center since the pandemic began and the third-largest agriculture show in the United States.

Things are different this year with coronavirus precautions. All mini-farm shows are canceled and the event is working with the Polk County Health Department to keep visitors safe.

In a time when many farm shows are being canceled, event organizers told Local 5 the Iowa Ag Expo is a welcome sight, especially with the chance to check out the latest and greatest in farm machinery.

"We're delighted to see all this equipment and it's a chance for what normal can start to feel like again, which many of us in Iowa are hungry to have happen," said Mark Hennessey with the Iowa-Nebraska Equipment Dealers Association.

The Expo runs through Thursday, Feb. 4. You can find more information here
