ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — A group of musicians within the Quad Cities area performed a pandemic-friendly rendition of "Sleigh Ride" using talent and technology.

The QCA Virtual Wind Ensemble, which was born out of the coronavirus pandemic, is made up of educators and professional musicians from the area.

Junior high band director Derek Ross put together a virtual performance of "Sleigh Ride." The initial plan was to get 8 or 10 musicians together, but the project ended up with more than 30 musicians.

The performance was recorded and posted on Youtube on the channel "RockIslandBands."

"Our mission is to support the arts and music education and to demonstrate that even though we cannot perform in-person right now, we can still make music together," read the video description on Youtube. "We wish you all a safe, happy holiday season, and we hope to be able to perform concerts for a live audience soon!"
