CLINTON, Iowa — The logo that the City of Clinton is using to commemorate its participation in RAGBRAI, the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, is out!
The design - which incorporates music, the Mississippi River, a lighthouse, and a paddlewheel - was made by Shanelle Yahn. Shanelle won "in an extremely close competition," said a statement from the Clinton Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Clinton, Iowa's RAGBRAI Advisory and Executive Boards voted for the winning design. Shanelle's design won by two votes over a submission from Hayle Calvin.
“I am so excited that I am able to part of this Clinton, Iowa RAGBRAI experience and I can’t wait for the event to take place!" said Shanelle.
The week-long ride always starts on the west side of Iowa, at the Missouri River, and travels eastward, ending on the Mississippi River.
It starts Saturday, July 24 in Le Mars. From there bikers travel to Sac City, Fort Dodge, Iowa Falls, Waterloo, Anamosa, Dewitt and finish in Clinton. The ride is a total of 454.1 miles.
Clinton has been a RAGBRAI town several times, most recently in 2012.
The 2021 theme is "Rolling on the River."
