As if News 8's Good Morning Quad Cities couldn't get any crazier, we came up with the idea to raise money for our food bank with a frozen turkey bowling contest. A good way to preview the Thanksgiving holiday, right?

Tuesday morning, November 24, 2015 we were at the Donuts and More, at 2430 16th Street in Moline, from 5 a.m. to noon. The owners were gracious enough to allow us to use their parking lot and we figured it would be a great place since they will have hot coffee and fresh donuts!

A minimum $5 donation to the River Bend Foodbank gave you two chances to bowl. We collected gift cards and prizes from Rudy's Tacos, Schnucks, The Quad City Mallards, Johnny's Italian Steakhouse, Moe's, Hy-Vee, Woodfire Grille, Happy Joes, and Salon Halo! The prizes went to people who bowled strikes and spares.

How Much Did We Collect?

The River Bend Foodbank told News 8 Tuesday afternoon, they collected $1,155.56 from our morning turkey bowling contest! Foodbank Executive Director Mike Miller says that money will make 5,778 meals for needy families in the foodbank's 22 county area.

Thank You So Much to Everyone Who Came Out Tuesday!!!!!!
