MOLINE, Ill. — Collin joined the News 8 team in September 2022 and is excited to live in and report on the Quad Cities, a place very new to him.

Born in Nanjing, China and adopted at a young age, Collin was raised in the Washington D.C suburbs in Derwood, Maryland.

He graduated college at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 from Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, with a B.A. in English with Maryland certification in secondary education.

At the Mount, Collin was a member of the university's NCAA Division I Cross Country and Track & Field Teams. He was also the sports editor of the student-run newspaper, Mountain Echo, and a sports writer for the local newspaper, Emmitsburg News Journal.

After deciding he didn't want his first year of teaching to be through Zoom, he elected to pursue his passion for storytelling and attended journalism school at the University of Maryland College Park in College Park, Maryland.

While at Maryland, Collin was a sports photographer with the student-run campus publication, the Diamondback, and also a general assignment reporter for the student-run news broadcast, Capital News Service. His reporting on stories in and around Baltimore, College Park and Washington D.C. exposed him to a breadth of experience he is grateful for receiving.

Two years later, Collin graduated with a Master of Journalism in Broadcast and set his sights on becoming a breaking news reporter.

In his free time, he likes to run around the Quad Cities, go to the Farmer's Market in Davenport every Saturday, watch anime and, in the true spirit of never forgetting his childhood, play video games.

He is also proud of his Maryland roots but his favorite sports teams are the Washington Commanders, Washington Capitals, Washington Nationals and D.C. United.

Collin is also an astrophotographer and avid chess player. He is Maryland Boat Certified, First-aid certified and CPR & AED certified. His Flickr photography portfolio can be viewed here
