Kia joined WQAD as a weekend anchor and reporter in July 2007. Before that, Kia worked as a general assignment reporter at KSNT in Topeka, Kansas. Kia is originally from Leawood, Kansas, but came to Illinois for college. She went to Northwestern University in Evanston and got a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Business Institutions.
At the Medill School of Journalism, Kia became active in the Medill Innocence Project, a group dedicated to investigating possible miscarriages of justice. Kia is thrilled to be back in Illinois and getting to know the Quad Cities.
Kia enjoys storytelling and learning something new everyday. Her stories have connected her to some amazing people including military members, a man who helped catch the Oklahoma City bomber, Timothy McVeigh, and Hurricane Katrina evacuees.
In her free time you can find Kia reading, traveling, exploring the Quad Cities on skates, and trying any form of dancing.
