MOLINE, Illinois -
If you got tickets to see country pop singer Taylor Swift at the IWireless Center in May, then you are one of the lucky ones. Tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. Friday morning and were sold out in 10 minutes.
Tickets on ticketmaster.com range from $25 to $59.50. With such high demand, people are reselling their tickets on sties like ticketsnow.com where you can pay up to $396 a seat. Disappointed fans wonder how ticket sales are handled whenever there is a popular act that is in such high demand.
About an hour before any ticket sales, the Center gives out 'lottery' numbers to the line of fans. Their numbers, if picked, determine if they get to purchase a ticket or not. IWireless Center's Executive Director Scott Mullen said this way, "There's no favoritism. That way no one gets advantage over anyone. It's fair."
Scott says Fan Clubs and corporate sponsors of the act have tickets held back and the IWireless Center has no say in how tickets are distributed. Whatever is left goes to the public for sale. Many fans don't agree how tickets are handled. "I think it's really unfair. I think everyone should get a ticket today when they go on sale to the public," says Taylor Swift fan Jordan Dooley.
Kelly Pickler will open for 19-year-old Swift will be at the IWireless Center on Saturday, May 8, 2010.
