In less than two weeks, many of us will have a house full of family and friends sitting down to a big thanksgiving meal. The grocery list is long and you need to stretch your cash as far as you can.

Here is what I found on just a few turkey day items at Hy-Vee in Bettendorf, Schnucks in Davenport and Wal-Mart in Davenport:

Even if the store says they have the lowest price, always shop around. You'll discover not everything they carry is cheaper than what you can find somewhere else.

Buying generic brands and watching for coupons and daily specials will help save several dollars as you go down your grocery list.

Watch out for deals like "4 for $5". Do your math to make sure when you break it down, it is cheaper than what you can get if you purchase just one.

If you want to get out of cooking all together, many restaurants are open on Thanksgiving Day.
