Some sweet smells and sounds of summer are stealing the show in Davenport's Le Claire Park.

"Ribs, ribs. Yeah the ribs, the music, the ambience, it's just all there," said a River Roots Live attendee.

After a two-year hiatus, Ribfest and River Roots Live are back on the riverfront.

"We're happy to be back down here. That's all we can say," said Will Veber, Stage Director for River Roots Live.

The festivals bring in barbecue and music-lovers of all ages. And the best part, admission is free.

"This is great. It's wide open spaces here. The artists from out of town just take a look at the stage and can't believe the river is right there," said Veber

Some make the trip to Ribfest a yearly event, while others Saturday soaked up the sauce for the first time.

"I think our actual favorite would be Jim's but they're local so we try to get something different every year," said Bob Underwood.

"The longer the line, the better the rib," said Mike Russell, a first-time attendee.

But no matter the flavor, you can be sure that as long as the grills are hot, people will be licking their fingers.
