QUAD CITIES, Iowa/Ill.—
Two major stars in a new Johnny Depp film "Public Enemies" are from right here in the Quad Cities. They aren't people, but collector cars staring in the film. One is a a 1933 nash owned by John Brewer, who loaned the car to filmmakers for five months.
During that time, they painted it twice using it in the film two different times.
Brewer says he answered an ad that called for cars from that time period to take part in the film. Three weeks later, he was told filmmakers just had to have his car. "I emailed the picture and was contacted and informed that the director Michael Mann and Johnny Depp loved the look and had to have it for the movie" says Brewer.
If you'd like to see see Brewer's 1933 Nash in person, it will be at the Showcase Cinemas in Davenport Friday night.
Also, a 1935 Hudson owned by Mike Patton of East Galesburg, Illinois, was used in the movie.
