There is new information about cancer cases in Iowa and the Quad Cities continues to be one of the high risk areas of the state.

The Iowa Cancer Consortium unveiled the latest cancer numbers Wednesday morning at Genesis West Hospital in Davenport.

In the past, the Quad Cities has seem an average number of cases, but it's the counties south and north where cancer education could help change mortality rates.

"In the state of Iowa, there's 17 people who die a day from cancer and in the Davenport area we're looking at high incidence rates of lung cancer and we're going to talk about some of the tobacco control efforts that are going on in the community" says Tina Devery of the Iowa Cancer Consortium

The Iowa Cancer Consortium was formed in 2001 to help bridge the gap between organizations working around the state to reduce the number of cancer cases.
