SILVIS, Illinois -
When the professional golfers and their caddies get ready to tee it up for next week's John Deere Classic, they won't need to worry about getting to and from the TPC at Deere Run.
Thursday, the Select Chevrolet Dealers Association agreed to supply vehicles for this year's golf tournament. Because of financial issues, Buick withdrew as official vehicle sponsor.
For the tournament, it's an announcement that relieves lots of stress just days before tournament week."If we didn't have this group of very civic minded and generous dealers we would have to go out and rent a fleet of cars which would cost the tournament $100,000 and would subtract from the amount of charity donations that we are able to make", says tournament director Claire Peterson
In addition to the tournament vehicles, the association will provide a Malibu hybrid as the grand prize for the Birdies for Charity raffle.
