SILVIS, Illinois - Mother Nature scratched the Pro-Am Wednesday, drowning the TPC at Deere Run under nearly an inch of water.

She returned Friday morning, pouring even more water on an already saturated course, forcing the staff of the John Deere Classic to suspend Round 2 until Saturday.

It was a long day for the golfers and caddies, forced to wait in the clubhouse as initial tee-times continued to move back, first to late-morning, then until 2:00 p.m. and finally to 4:00 p.m.

As the skies broke at around 2:15 p.m., the grounds crew got to work, cleaning up fairways and working feverishly to prep the course.

But in the end, it was a losing battle, as the ground proved to be too soaked for play.

Now, Saturday, Round 2 will begin as previously scheduled Friday, with Bo Van Pelt, Jeff Klauk and Webb Simpson scheduled to tee off at the 1st tee at 7:00 a.m., and Jason Bohn, Brian Davis and Kevin Stadler teeing off at the same time from the 10th tee.

Once Round 2 wraps up Saturday night, the staff will make the cut, and reset the pairings for back-to-back Rounds 3 and 4 to be played Sunday.

"We're hoping to still wrap things up by 5 [on Sunday]," a PGA spokesperson told News 8.
