The Great River Days in Muscatine are off and running Thursday evening, after a last minute move because of the rising Mississippi waters.

Organizers of the event decided to move off the riverfront as the river climbed out of its banks, cresting at about 18-and-a-half feet.

The Easter Iowa Community College opened its lots to organizers. While they are not as visible there as they typically are, things are working out and they are dry.

Kerrie Keller says, "The community college has been very gracious in allowing us to come out and use their parking lots for the event. We've got plenty of space here, plenty of green space, so we're doing the best that we can with what we have."

Great River Days runs through Saturday.
