MUSCATINE, Iowa - The horrifying video of a teen beating a dog was passed from phone to phone at the Muscatine High School.
School Resource Officer Whitni Wethington says she has talked to the student, including the two others who were involved in the incident. Officer Wethington says he broke down and cried and knows he did wrong. When asked why the teen did this, Wethington replied, "The dog pooped on his clothes. He had chores and he had cleaned clothes that he didÂ…he was upset."
Several high school students say the video is disturbing and they don't understand why this he did this. "That was pretty messed up. I don't know why he would do something like that. The dog was really little," says Freshman Austin Cavazos.
The one-year-old dog was checked out by a veterinarian and is fine. The dog is back at home and the student has been charged with animal abuse.
