Family of Clinton murder victims ask the public for tips
CLINTON - Angel Herman's mother says she knows someone has information about who may have killed her daughter and 2 year old grandson, and is hoping they come forward soon.

''If you know anything, if you thought she was being stalked, if you thought there was somebody following her, if you thought somebody hated her, tell the police department. There's no reason to kill a baby!'', said Lu Jamieson-Herman from her house in Camanche Friday.

The bodies of 22-year old Angel Herman and 2-year old Cyrus Shoup were found inside apartment #123 at the Bluff Apartments in Clinton just after midnight Wednesday.

Jamieson-Herman says she was notified Thursday night that the deaths of Angel and her son Cyrus Shoup were now considered no accident, and were being ruled homicides.

''I have no clue who would hurt my babies, I don't understand this. SHe had no enemies, she had absolutely no enemies, everybody loved her. I want to know what happened to my babies. They didn't deserve this, they didn't deserve this''

Police aren't saying how the two died.

Crystal Herman lives in the next building over. She says she saw her sister about 11:30 pm Tuesday night. when she came upstairs to borrow a couple cigarettes. She says Angel went right back downstairs to her apartment, where Cyrus was sleeping. About half an hour later, at 12:02 am, the report of a fire in the apartment came in.

''I told her I loved her'', Crystal says. Those were her last words to her sister.

Police Friday canvassed the apartment complex, knocking on every door and questioning neighbors about what they may have seen or noticed the last few days.

Lemke Funeral home has donated two plots to the family, and will help pay some of the costs of the upcoming double service. A fund has been established at Clinton National Bank and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Clinton.

''I'm so angry but I'm so hurt that anybody would want to hurt them. What you did to my daughter and Cyrus is so sick, and wrong and unforgiveable. Her soul's not at rest, until they find out who did this''.
