ANNAWAN, Ill. - A seriously injured soldier is getting a taste of home cooking. Aaron Carlson, 20, suffered multiple injuries after a suicide car bomb detonated near his post in Afghanistan.

Hospitalized in the U.S. since January, he was feeling well enough for a two week break. His journey started with a special greeting at the Quad City International airport. From there, a procession to Annawan with the Patriot Guard Riders by his side.

That's where supporters lined the streets for this hometown hero. The patriotic pride touched family members and friends who came out for this special day.

"It was emotional a lot. i never expected all this. to see it means a lot" says Carlson. He also received special greetings from the family of Sgt. Schuyler Patch, who was recently laid to rest in Kewanee.
