DAVENPORT, Iowa—
A Scott County jury has awarded more than 7 million dollars to a Wisconsin man permanently injured in a construction accident at a Quad City hotel.The verdict was unsealed Thursday after a weeklong trial.
The jury sided with Allen Frohne, a sub-contractor who fell three stories when a lift tipped over. Mr. Frohne was a sub-contractor hired to do the gutter work at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Leclaire, Iowa while it was under construction in 2005.
The $7, 059, 997 award was made against Leclaire Hotel Group LLC and Gibbs Construction.
During the trial, an expert testified about 8 different OSHA violations at the construction site. The attorney for Mr. Frohne says the possibly record- breaking individual award in Scott County, is about more than just money, or his client. He says it's about public safety and the safety of sub-contractors working on local job sites.
