CHICAGO (AP) — Gov. Pat Quinn is asking Illinois voters to remember his long years of public service and integrity when they head to the polls.

Quinn faces a stiff challenge from Comptroller Dan Hynes for the Democratic nomination for governor. Hynes says Quinn is a weak, indecisive leader.

Quinn says he has earned the nomination for managing the state's huge budget crisis and passing a major public-works bill. But on Monday he stressed his reputation as an advocate for good government.

He says Illinois needs a governor with sympathy for everyday citizens and with the strength to fight corruption.

Quinn says he is "always faithful to the people of Illinois."
