CHICAGO (AP) — Jurors in Chicago have convicted a 33-year-old man of involuntary manslaughter in the 2007 drowning death of 62-year-old Vietnamese fisherman Du Doan.
Prosecutors say Doan drowned after Haley shoved the fisherman into a Lake Michigan harbor. Authorities say Doan could not swim and drowned. Prosecutors had sought a murder conviction. Instead Haley was found guilty of manslaughter on Friday.
Defense attorney Timothy Grace says Haley didn't intend to hurt Doan. Haley is to be sentenced on Nov. 19.
