EAST MOLINE, Ill. — Multiple departments are responding to a semitruck rollover crash that happened at about 9 a.m. Friday, May 13 at the eastbound Interstate 80 exit ramp that leads to eastbound Interstate 88.
East Moline Fire and Police, Rock Island Arsenal Fire and Rock Island County Sheriff's departments as well as the Illinois Department of Transportation and an ambulance were on the scene. As of about 10 a.m., the ramp was closed as the semi had jackknifed and completely blocked the road.
According to the Illinois State Police, the crash resulted in a hazardous material spill, specifically flammable liquid. The ramp will be closed for an extended period of time, and motorists were advised to take an alternate route.
Firefighters were seen preparing in case the substance were to catch fire while moving the semi.
