Portion of E 53rd Street reopens after months of construction work

The City of Davenport announced that a segment of E 53rd Street will reopen by the end of the day Friday.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — The City of Davenport has announced that segments two and three of the Phase II E 53rd Street project located at Jersey Ridge Road and also between Lorton Avenue and Elmore Circle is nearly complete.

By the end of Friday, Nov. 18, the road will reopen. Single daytime lane reductions in the eastbound curb lane will continue throughout winter while temperatures are conducive for work on the recreational trail on the south side of the road between Lorton Avenue and Elmore Circle.

Work on Phase II has been ongoing since May 18.

Work on segments four and five of the Phase II project will begin in the Spring of 2023. Once complete in 2023, E 53rd Street will have been fully reconstructed, widened, added recreational trail and obtained utility and stormwater improvements from Brady Street to Elmore Circle.
